Google files with FCC to test 3.5 GHz band broadband service

Friday 12 August 2016 | 09:09 CET | News
Google has filed for authorisation from the FCC to use frequencies in he 3.4-3.8 GHz band for testing wireless technology. "We are working to test the viability of a wireless network that relies on newly available spectrum," a spokesperson tells Business Insider. "The project is in early stages today, but we hope this technology can one day help deliver more abundant internet access to consumers." The statement appears to confirm earlier reports that Google is exploring alternatives to fibre to bring faster broadband to the world.
