Google invests in voice authentication company Pindrop

US-based voice-fraud prevention and authentication company Pindrop has raised USD 75 million in Series C funding led by Google Capital with participation from GV, Andreessen Horowitz, IVP, City Ventures and Felicis Ventures. The latest round increases Pindrop's total funding to USD 122 million to date. Pindrop's patented Phoneprinting technology can identify, locate and authenticate phone devices from the call audio thereby detecting fraudulent calls as well as verifying legitimate callers. The company's technology is currently being used by three of the US's four biggest banks.
