Google Maps offering improved voice guidance for visually impaired

Google has announced the launch of an additional feature in its Google Maps app that gives a more detailed voice guidance, complete with periodic announcements, alerts and warnings, for the visually impaired. In a blog post to mark World Sight Day, Google said the initiative was spearheaded by Wakana Sugiyama, a Tokyo-based business analyst for the company's online partnership group who is legally blind.
