Google Nigeria connects 20,000 SMEs to internet

Google has successfully established online presences for over 20,000 small and medium-sized enterprises in Nigeria, some eight months after it inaugurated the Get Nigerian Businesses Online campaign. The firm's Country Manager Juliet Ehimuan said the goal of the GNBO programme is to make it easier for Nigerian entrepreneurs to expand by taking advantage of the power of the web. Over 20,000 sites have been created since the launch, showing that SMEs in Nigeria are well aware of the opportunities presented by the internet and are already benefiting from these.
