Google NL receives 4,200 personal take-down requests

Friday 4 July 2014 | 10:39 CET | News
Google Netherlands has received around 4,200 requests to remove reports containing personal information from its search results, local media reported. The requests cover around 16,589 URLs. They are based on the EU court ruling in May that found Google should remove links to news items with possibly damaging personal information if it is no longer accurate or relevant and has no overwhelming public interest. This is in order to protect the individual's right to privacy. Google has set up an online registration to accept take-down requests and will evaluate whether the requests are justified.
