Google paid Mastercard to track retail sales - report

Google paid Mastercard "millions of dollars" for access to credit card transaction data to track whether online ads led to sales at physical stores in the US, according to unnamed sources cited by Bloomberg. Neither company publicly announced the tracking partnership, which was brokered during about four years of negotiations, said the report, with one of the sources even claiming the companies discussed sharing a portion of the ad revenue.
