Google settles privacy case over Street View for USD 13 mln

Google agreed to pay USD 13 million to end a litigation over claims that its Street View vehicles broke a US wiretapping law by obtaining data from private Wi-Fi networks, writes Bloomberg.com. As part of the settlement deal filed on 19 July in San Francisco, the federal court decided that the company distribute the money to consumer privacy groups, destroy all the collected data, as well as teach people about ways in which to protect their wireless networks.
