Google to launch 'Tez' digital payment service in India - report

Google plans to launch a digital payment service dubbed 'Tez' in India on 18 September. The Tez (meaning 'fast' in Hindi) multi-layered app will support Unified Payments Interface (UPI), a single-window mobile payment system launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) as well as payment services Paytm and MobiKwik, The-Ken reports. Google Tez will be available both on the desktop, as a Chrome widget, and will be rolled out as an app on Google's Play Store or will be pre-installed on the OS and introduced as part of future updates to the operating system.
