Google uses smartphone data to track store visits - report

Google is beta-testing a program that leverages smartphone location data to track when consumers visit stores, DigiDay reports, citing unnamed agency executives briefed on the program by Google employees. According to the same source, Google then connects these store visits to Google searches conducted on smartphones to check the feasibility of its mobile ads.
