Government report backs advertising, data collection taxes

A French government report proposes a special tax on advertising revenue and on personal data collection, reports Les Echos. After vigorous debate, customer-country taxation was imposed on Google, Apple, Amazon and such multinational internet companies by the European Commission. They were previously allowed to pay sometimes very low tax rates in the country where their European headquarters were located, such as Luxembourg and Ireland. Further measures envisaged in a report by France Strategie for digital affairs secretary Axelle Lemaire include taxing revenue made from advertising and data
