GoWi-Fi eyes more financing as user base grows

Portuguese start-up GoWi-Fi is celebrating its two-year existence and over 750,000 users and is close to securing financing that could reach up to EUR 1 million, reports Jornal de Negocios. The largest free Wi-Fi network in Portugal has around 40,000 new users per month and the service is available on a network shared by cities, public transportation, shopping malls and several hundred retailers. After registration, anyone can access the Wi-Fi network from any mobile device free. Last year's turnover grew by 200 percent. The startup already has partnerships in Poland and Ireland where it intends to test the model and grow in other markets.
