Grameenphone shares 3,000 BTS with other operators

Monday 24 July 2017 | 11:41 CET | News
Bangladeshi mobile operator Grameenphone has announced it has reached the milestone of 3,000 sites shared with other operators. Grameenphone started sharing sites in 2009 after BTRC allowed passive telecom infrastructure sharing, with Qubee as its first customer. According to Mainur Rahman Bhuiyan, head of Grameenphone's infrastructure business, since the publication of BTRC guideline regarding infrastructure sharing in 2008 about 8,000 sites have been shared among operators, which is more than 50 percent of the total number of BTS established during that period.
