Greece to offer 3.5 GHz, 26 GHz spectrum for 5G trials

Thursday 6 December 2018 | 16:41 CET | News

Greek operator EETT has started accepting applications for spectrum to test 5G services, based on the conditions outlined in its decision of early November. Operators can apply for rights to use the bands 3,400-3,800 MHz and 24.25-27.5 GHz on a trial basis for testing 5G networks.

Both ranges have been designated pioneer bands for 5G in the EU. The Greek regulator has previously indicated that it aims to auction the 3.5 GHz band in late 2019 or 2020, and the 700 MHz band is also slated for release by the end of 2020.
