Groups warn against restricting unbundled last mile access

German telecoms industry groups Breko, Buglas and VATM have issued a joint statement criticising plans by Deutsche Telekom to no longer offer access to the local loop at street cabinet level. Telekom plans to employ so-called vectoring technology in the last mile, which supports data rates of up to 100 Mbps even over short distances from the street cabinet and homes. This means it will no longer offer unbundled access for other carriers.
