GSA to fund Galileo-enabled chipsets, receivers

The European GNSS Agency (GSA) has announced the launch of a new R&D funding mechanism to support the development of chipsets and receivers for the Galileo satellite navigation system and EGNOS operational platform. The EUR 100 million funding, part of the EU's 'Fundamental Elements' programme, will support activities to be carried out from 2015-2020. "For the first time EU regulation provides a financing tool for the market uptake of European GNSS chipsets and receivers," said GSA executive director Carlo des Dorides. The Galileo satellite navigation system is scheduled to become fully
