GSMA says taxing mobile money would hinder financial inclusion

Wednesday 18 April 2018 | 09:35 CET | News
The GSMA says imposing any form of tax on mobile money transactions would be a major drawback to the financial inclusion agenda championed by government, reports Ghanaweb. Akinwale Goodluck, Head of Sub-Saharan Africa, said he is very concerned whenever there is any indication that a government wants to take any step that might inhibit the growth of mobile money. When one taxes mobile money, one is taxing the people who are probably the most excluded from mainstream financial services, said Goodluck.
