Hadopi sees clear decline in illegal P2P downloads

Seventeen months after French anti-piracy authority Hadopi sent its first graduated response e-mail warning letters to suspected illegal file downloaders, the body sees visible effects of its three-strikes policy on illegal P2P downloading and the current state and outlook of online cultural supply. Hadopi has published a report citing benchmarking studies from Nielsen, Mediametrie//NetRatings, Peer Media Technologies and ALPA. They show a clear downward trend in illegal P2P downloads in 2011, with audience levels coming down by 17 and 29 percent, and illegal data sharing falling by 43 and 66
