Hadopi sends over 1 million e-mail warnings

Friday 6 July 2012 | 10:33 CET | News
French anti-piracy authority Hadopi has sent 1.09 million warning e-mails since the beginning of the gradual response or 'three strikes' system, ZDnet reports. This means that 4.7 percent of all internet users in France have been sent an e-mail. On the other hand, only one of the 314 cases that reached the third phase, has been prosecuted. In related news, France's new prime minister, Jean-Marc Ayrault, announced that a new framework would be put in place in the first half of 2013 to reconcile the rights of creators and a facilitated and secured access to works online.
