Half of Panamanian mobile lines to be 4G by 2023

Friday 12 October 2018 | 11:36 CET | News
LTE penetration is set to rise from the current figure of just 13 percent of mobile lines to 49 percent by 2023, according to Global Data figures cited in a 5G Americas report. Although the Central American country has one of the region's highest mobile penetration rates at 134 mobile phones per 100 inhabitants, just 700,000 of the 5.5 million lines are currently LTE. However, 4G lines are set to rise to 1.1 million next year, 1.7 million in 2020 and 3.3 million of the expected total of 6.8 million in 2023, said the report.
