HBO picks Arris satellite receiver for content delivery

Arris has announced a contract to provide HBO with its DSR-7400 transcoder satellite receiver to support the optimisation of its current MPEG 2/4 distribution platforms and help the network prepare for future content distribution with HEVC compression and DVB-S2X advanced modulation technologies. The DSR-7400 uses the latest HEVC video compression to reduce satellite bandwidth by up to 50 percent, while maintaining compatibility with deployed MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 set-tops. The receiver also supports Ultra HD and HDR services, as well as DVB-S2X technology, designed to increase the video capacity
