High court rejects SFR's request for independent expert

France's highest administrative court, the "Conseil d'Etat" has dismissed a request by mobile and broadband operator SFR for an independent expert to study alleged difficulties in operating a 4.8 MHz block of frequencies in the 2.1 GHz band. This is one of two blocks put up for allocation by telecommunications regulator Arcep on 25 February, the other being 5 MHz. They were left over when the spectrum associated to the country's fourth mobile licence, won by Free Mobile, was reduced from 15 MHz to 5 MHz.
