Hispasat 1C satellite placed in 'graveyard orbit'

Spanish satellite communications operator Hispasat has announced that its Hispasat 1C satellite (subsequently called 30W-3 and 84W-1) has completed re-orbiting operations and will be sent to "graveyard orbit," as established by the recommendations of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Inter-Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee. Built by Thales Alenia Space, Hispasat 1C was launched on 03 February 2000 from Cape Canaveral, Florida, and was used by over 20 of the operator's broadband clients in Latin America.
