Hispasat, HiSky to offer IoT and mobile services in Mexico via small portable terminals

Tuesday 30 April 2019 | 15:40 CET | News
Spanish satellite operator Hispasat has announced the successful installation of a hub at its gateway in Ixtlahuaca del Rayon (Mexico) to manage the small portable terminals of Israeli satellite VNO HiSky. The terminals, dubbed Smartellites, offer MSS (mobile satellite services) and IoT solutions through the Ka band of Hispasat's Amazonas 5 satellite, which covers 79 percent of the Mexican population. The Mexican launch follows a deal signed by both companies in 2017 to jointly market the mobile and IoT satellite service in Spain, Portugal, Latin America and North Africa.
