HomeNet contracts Nordkraft to lay fibre in Narvik

Friday 9 February 2018 | 14:37 CET | News

Broadnet's residential arm HomeNet said it has signed up Nordkraft as a contractor to expand its fibre infrastructure in Narvik. It has already worked with Nordkraft for installations in Finnbekken, Taraldsvik and Vassvik, starting in late 2016. Since then, it  has pas most homes in Storasen, Jaklamyra, central Narvik, Fagernes and Ankenes.

Nordkraft will be responsible for project design, excavation, and connection to the customers' premises. Under the agreement, Homenet will purchase Nordkraft’s fibre infrastructure in the relevant areas and an operating agreement running until 2027. Their cooperation involves supplying fibre to 4,792 homes, and laying 70,000 metres of fibre.

Customers will get interne service at 1 Gbps and will have a choice of four television service providers, compared with one single one currently. They can opt for stand-alone broadband, without TV service, at no extra cost.
