Homenet told to withdraw misleading advertisement

Wednesday 27 August 2014 | 12:21 CET | News
The Norwegian consumer arbitrator (Forbrukarombodet) has told Broadnet unit HomeNet to withdraw one of its advertisements immediately on the ground that it is misleading. The company is advertising broadband 'almost free until the end of 2014'. The arbitrator said the advert is written in such a way that it is easy to believe one is getting a free services, but in fact there is a twelve-month lock-in, and the total price for the year is not stated. It said this is unlawful baiting, and the matter is especially serious as the publicity is aimed at economically vulnerable young people.
