Hondutel profits plunge to HNL 10.5 mln in Q1

Honduran state-owned operator Hondutel posted net profits of HNL 10.5 million in the first quarter of the year, compared to HNL 68.5 million a year earlier, reports local daily El Heraldo. Revenues also fell, by 14.4 percent, to HNL 424.8 million, while operating expenses inched up from HNL 228.8 million to HNL 237.1 million. The company last year posted a net profit of HNL 100.9 million thanks above all to cost-cutting measures such as staff reductions designed to save HNL 454 million in annual costs.
