Hondutel to add Wi-Fi hotspots to public phone booths

Tuesday 9 January 2018 | 12:05 CET | News
Honduran state-owned operator Hondutel has announced plans to invest USD 50,000 to install Wi-Fi hotspots in around 3,000 public phone booths throughout the country, reports La Tribuna. The first hotspots will be activated in the historic centre of Tegucigalpa by the end of the first quarter and will allow users to access the internet on their mobile devices within 300 to 500 meters of the booths. Hondutel customers will simply have to introduce their customer number to use the service, with other users also allowed to access the Wi-Fi for a limited amount of time, said the report.
