Huawei completes eOTDR commercial use tests

Chinese telecommunications equipment vendor Huawei has completed Embedded OTDR (eOTDR) commercial use tests on the Xinjiang branch of China Telecom's live network. Huawei said the tests have validated eOTDR test and diagnosis functions for optic fibre. Huawei's eOTDR is an optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) system embedded in an OLT PON optical module and can identify physical connections and optical fibre attenuation. China Telecom implemented Huawei's eOTDR system and completed testing across its entire live network.
