Huawei, CTR outline details of southern Chile undersea cable project

Friday 23 March 2018 | 10:52 CET | News
Huawei Marine has disclosed further details of its partnership with local telecommunications operator CTR (Comunicacion y Telefonia Rural) to roll out what will be the southernmost submarine cable in the world, connecting 3 regions in southern Chile. CTR was awarded the contract to deploy and operate the network in October, with Huawei Marine providing the end-to-end submarine cable infrastructure via its 100G universal platform. The system has a design capacity of 16 Tbps and a length of 2,800 kilometers, said Huawei Marine, adding that it expects to complete the rollout by the end of 2019.
