Huawei, Qualcomm to show Scalable UMTS offering at MWC 2013

Huawei and Qualcomm will jointly demonstrate a Scalable UMTS service at the 2013 Mobile World Congress. Scalable UMMTS with half bandwidth UMTS can enable GSM/UMTS 900 re-farming. Scalable UMTS can also be jointly deployed with Huawei's UMTS Flexible Carrier Bandwidth service to save spectrum in deploying small cells. Huawei and Qualcomm have completed testing of a Scalable UMTS prototype in November 2012 at Huawei's Shanghai laboratory facilities.
