Huawei, Telefonica Peru build 1 Gbps network with Docsis 3.1

Wednesday 28 September 2016 | 11:31 CET | News
Huawei has announced a contract with Telefonica Peru to build what it describes as Latin America's first Docsis 3.1-compliant converged ultra broadband network. The network will offer both coaxial and fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) access and enable subscribers in Peru to access the internet at speeds of up to 1 Gbps. The converged network upgrades the existing Docsis 3.0-compliant coaxial network to the new Docsis 3.1 technology, allowing Telefonica to introduce advanced smart home, 4K video and cloud-based services in at least 1.7 million homes, said Huawei.
