Hughes completes testing of EchoStar XIX broadband satellite

Hughes Network Systems announced the completion of in-orbit testing and handover of EchoStar XIX from Space Systems Loral (SSL), manufacturers of this Ka-band high-throughput satellite. Hughes expects EchoStar XIX to be placed into service at the end of the first quarter of 2017. The satellite will power the HughesNet Gen5, the satellite internet service in the US. The satellite was successfully launched on the back of a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida on 18 December, 2016.
