Hungarian operators join forces to promote NFC m-payments

Top managers from Telenor Hungary, Vodafone Hungary, and Magyar Telekom held a joint press conference on 10 October to promote the use of near field communication-based mobile payments, writes local newspaper MTI – Econews. During the conference, which was organised by the Mobile Wallet Association, Magyar Telekom chairman-CEO Christopher Mattheisen said the mobile telecommunications sector will have the best chance to make mobile payments work if mobile companies team up with banks. Gyozo Drozdy, advisor to the CEO of Telenor Hungary, thinks the technology for mobile payment must be uniform.
