Hungary's VAT on internet services continues to drop

Wednesday 3 January 2018 | 15:02 CET | News
Hungary's VAT on internet services dropped from the existing 18 percent to 5 percent from 1 January, according to news agency MTI's daily newsletter Hungary Matters. The economy ministry previously said that the 13 percent drop is expected to leave HUF 22 billion (EUR 70 million) in the pockets of consumers. Hungary's VAT on internet services was reduced from 27 percent to 18 percent in January 2017. In 2016, the EC opposed Hungary's proposed VAT cuts on internet subscriptions.
