CommQuest Technologies (US), developer and supplier of advanced semiconductors for wireless comms, will be acquired by International Business Machines (IBM) for around USDlr180 mil. IBM will take a charge due to the acquisition, in the qtr when the acquisition is completed. The acquisition is pending govt approval and various closing conditions. According to IBM, the purchase will accelerate the development of low-cost, multifunctional mobile 'information appliances'.
