Icann approves first 4 new generic domains

Tuesday 22 October 2013 | 13:12 CET | News
Icann announced the first of the new generic top-level domains have been approved to start issuing names. The new gTLDs are designed to expand opportunities for domain names beyond the most common used today, such as .com, .org and country names. The first new names are all non-Latin, international names and include the Arabic word for 'web' or 'network, Russian for 'online', Russian for 'web site' and Chinese for 'game'. The first is managed by International Domain Registry, the next two by Core Association and the final name by Spring Fields.
