Icasa outlines further cuts in termination rates

South Africa's industry regulator Icasa has published the proposed mobile termination rates for the period 1 October to 28 February 2018. The reductions are not as sharp as earlier proposed. The rate of asymmetry, which benefits smaller players, has also been reduced substantially, but Cell C will qualify for asymmetry for the full term of the new regulations. The draft regulation will be published in the Government Gazette on 5 September. For mobile, the rate remains at ZAR 0.20/minute until 28 February 2015. For fixed, the rate is ZAR 0.12/minute for calls in the same number area and ZAR
