Icelandic PTA plans 700 MHz auction before year-end

Tuesday 19 July 2016 | 13:17 CET | News
The Icelandic postal and telecoms regulator, the PTA said it intends to hold an auction later this year of frequencies in the 700 MHz band. This follows an application by Siminn for 2 x 20 MHz in February 2016 and subsequent hearing, involving Siminn itself, Vodafone Iceland, Nova, Gagnaveita Reykjavikur and emergency services switchboard Neydarlinan. That hearing discovered that demand is equal to or greater than supply, hence the decision to auction off the airwaves.
