ICO fines TalkTalk GBP 100,000 for data breach

Thursday 10 August 2017 | 22:54 CET | News
TalkTalk Telecom Group has been fined GBP 100,000 by the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) for failing to look after customer data and risking it falling into the hands of fraudsters and scammers. The ICO investigation found that TalkTalk had breached the Data Protection Act by allowing employees to have access to large amounts of customer data, with a lack of adequate security protection leaving the data open to exploitation by dishonest employees.
