ICT set to contribute 10% of Kenya's GDP by 2017

ICT will contribute 10 percent of Kenyan Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2017, up from 2.9 percent currently, said ICT Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i. He said ICT boosts socio-economic development and that over the last decade, the government has put a lot of emphasis on adopting new technologies as part of Kenya's development agenda. Substantial financial, material and human resources have been devoted to entrenching ICTs. He said the government will continue to invest in ICTs, promote partnerships and encourage investments to facilitate knowledge and capacity transfer to Kenyan companies
