Idemia and Sopra Steria secure contract for biometric services to protect EU's Schengen area

Thursday 4 June 2020 | 11:18 CET | News
Augmented identity specialist Idemia and IT services group Sopra Steria have been awarded a four-year framework contract from eu-LISA, the European agency responsible for the management of large-scale IT systems. The two partners will deploy a shared biometric matching system (sBMS) supporting the Smart Borders initiatives planned by the EU to increase the protection of the Schengen area. In particular, this will serve the identification needs linked to new border crossing rules to be introduced under the European Entry/Exit System (EES).
