IFT decides not to reapply MXN 12 bln Telcel fine - report

Wednesday 24 June 2015 | 11:06 CET | News
Mexico's Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) has decided not to reapply a fine of MXN 11.9 billion imposed on the mobile operator Telcel (America Movil), reports local daily El Universal. After reviewing the 2012 decision to revoke the fine imposed by the now defunct Mexican Federal Antitrust Commission (CFC) for alleged monopolistic practices in the mobile termination market, the IFT decided that Telcel had indeed met the anti-monopoly measures it had agreed to put in place in lieu of paying the fine.
