IFT to hold consultation on mobile service quality control

Mexican telecommunications regulator IFT has announced a public consultation on its draft proposal to introduce a new mobile service quality control programme. Under the proposed new plan, which would replace the previous mobile service control programme dating back to 2011, the regulator aims to introduce a number of new checks to bring the controls in line with international best practices. New measures envisaged under the plan include checks on the quality of data services provided by operators, combined with the publication of minimum data transfer speeds via 2G, 3G and 4G.
