Ikimobile plans to open mobile phone factory in Angola, to include components made of cork

Monday 15 April 2019 | 12:52 CET | News

Portuguese mobile phone manufacturer Ikimobile expects to complete a mobile phone assembly unit in Benfica (Angola) in October, as a result of an investment close to AOA 1.6 billion, CEO Tito Cardoso told Mercado. He said that factory will produce around 100,000 units per month for both the Angolan market and other SADC countries.

Currently, Ikimobile devices are sold in major retail outlets in Angola, as well as by the country's two main operators, Unitel and Movicel. The most popular models so far have been the Easy1.8, Easy2.4 and Go4.5, and new models will be introduced in May, including the Go5, Go5.5, the Bless and Bless Plus, which use components in cork.
