India loses more than 14 mln telephone subscribers in Q1

The number of telephone subscribers in India declined to 1.18 billion at the end of March this year, from 1.19 billion in December 2018, which represents a drop of 1.20 percent quarter-on-quarter. India shed 14.36 million telephone subscribers in the first three months of 2019, according to a report from telecoms regulator TRAI. Year-on-year, the country's telephone customer base fell 1.88 percent. The overall teledensity in India also decreased from 91.45 percent in December 2018 to 90.11 at end-March 2019.
