India smartphone market plunges almost 50% to 17.3 million units in Q2

Wednesday 22 July 2020 | 10:02 CET | News
India's smartphone shipments dropped 48 percent in this year's second quarter, to 17.3 million units. The decline was due to an unprecedented shutdown of the Indian economy until mid-May amid the COVID-19 crisis, according to a report from Canalys. The report also shows smartphone vendors faced a critical situation, with both low supply due to a complete halt in production and reduced demand, as online and offline retailers were banned from selling smartphones.
