India plans to seize Vodafone Group's assets in the country unless the operator pays an INR 142 billion (approximately USD 2.1 billion) tax bill that is still undergoing international arbitration proceedings, Bloomberg reports, citing a copy of the notice that was sent to the company. Vodafone started international arbitration proceedings on the tax bill in 2014. According to the letter, any overdue amounts, even from overseas companies, may be recovered "from any assets of the non-resident which are, or may at any time come, within India".
