Indian mobile handset shipments grow 10.9% to 62.9 mln in Q3

Mobile handset shipments in India grew 10.9 percent to 62.9 million in Q3, according to a study by CyberMedia Research (CMR). In Q3, feature phones saw the first ever negative growth in shipments, falling 0.8 percent year-over-year to 51.8 million. During the same period, 11.1 million smartphones were shipped in the country, up 152.3 percent over the same period last year. This takes the contribution of smartphones to 17.6 percent of total mobile shipments.
