Indian operators gain 3.11 mln GSM subs in May

India ended May with 667.56 million GSM customers, as operators jointly added 3.11 million subscribers in the month, according to figures from the industry association Coai. Bharti Airtel led the market with 189.65 million subscribers after adding 851,999 new customers in May. Airtel's market share stood at 28.41 percent. Vodafone India added 910,320 new customers and ended the month with 154.69 million subscribers. Vodafone's market share stood at 23.17 percent. Idea Cellular added 867,233 subscribers to bring its total to 123.76 million and the operator had a market share of 18.54 percent.
