India's PowerGrid Telecom to upgrade connectivity in hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has won a contract from the Himachal Pradesh government to upgrade telecom connectivity in hilly areas of the state, PTI reports. The PGCIL recently signed an agreement with Himachal Pradesh State Electricity (HPSEBL) in Shimla for the use of 500 km of the OPGW telecom network. This is in addition to the existing 350 km of OPGW laid on HPSEBL extra high voltage lines already being used in the state to boost connectivity.
